Linux- Music CD Playback Ripping etc
#2
I've contemplated ripping my CD collection and storing on my home NAS unit but haven't taken the plunge except to create a USB drive to play in my vehicle, which unfortunately only supports the MP3 format.  I used fre:ac* to rip CDs with the highest MP3 setting, but it still loses something in the translation.  Are you using FLAC for lossless audio?  I would if that was an option in my vehicle.  At home I would likely use Kodi (formerly XBMC) as a media server which I have played around with a bit but not implemented as a full setup.  It supports most formats as well as streaming so it should not be a problem using FLAC.  I used EasyTAG for metadata editing.

Thanks for sharing.  It would be great if you could give us a demo sometime!

* I used the AppImage version of fre:ac with the --disable-wine startup option or it tries to install some Windows module running under wine, which I didn't need.
