Screen rotation followup - cheetah2003 - 05-01-2024 So as I mentioned some months ago with my Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 having issues with screen rotation not rotating the touchscreen orientation, I have resolved this issue. I upgraded my Dell to Debian 12 today and that just...fixed it. So all good. Cheers! RE: Screen rotation followup - brew - 05-01-2024 Please expand on the fix if you can--what changes in Debian 12 (drivers, kernel, etc) do you think fixed the screen rotation issue? Kinda wondering if Debian 12 might be a fix for Glenn's sound issue in another thread? Alas, I really have no clue what the Debian team changed. I'm going to assume (probably foolishly) something in the touchscreen driver was adjusted to deal with rotating input device. But I can't be sure. I have mentioned in the past, with the Microsoft Surface, the touchscreen input rotated properly. So maybe whatever was in there got migrated to whatever driver the Dell's touchscreen uses. I really don't have the patience or time to diff things between bookworm and bullseye to figure out what changed.I just did an in-place upgrade (dist-upgrade), so it wasn't even a full reinstall. Debian is just great about that. As to Glenn, I think he's running Debian bleeding edge (testing or unstable), so... Not sure. It really should work. I would LOVE to get my hands on the laptop and fiddle with it myself. RE: Screen rotation followup - glenn - 05-04-2024 Yeah, I'm running Debian testing. You're welcome to fiddle with it if there's a chance you could get the sound working. Headphones are a pain in the butt. |
